Jared Dawkins

Jared “J.D.” Dawkins was a mixed-race Black and White security professional from Newark, New Jersey. After two years in Manhattan venue security, he joined Ezra Cruz’s personal security detail in August 2035 under team lead Cisco Medina. Jared lived in Ridgewood, Queens, with his partner, Brian Trevino.

Professional Life

Cisco hired Jared and Manny Torres in August 2035 to rebuild Ezra’s two-person personal detail approximately six months after the Berlin overdose. Jared was twenty-six and had no prior celebrity-protection experience. Manny brought a decade of experience, while Jared entered the team as the less experienced member.

Jared’s first day included an operational briefing, an assessment of Ezra’s loft, and a public walk through Tribeca. He identified a photographer before being prompted and reported the position quietly to Cisco. Brian helped Jared eat and rest when anxiety or compulsive checking disrupted his awareness of those needs. Jared noticed changes in Brian’s breathing, sleep, humming, and mood and remained available during Brian’s late-night work.

Ezra Cruz
